Chaffey's flagship single-vineyard Barossa Shiraz, and most-awarded wine is Elijah, from the revered Fechner brothers’ Moculta vineyard in the northern Eden Valley. Old Shiraz vines, planted in 1906, give rise to a wine which is both powerful and poised, with precise, detailed aromas of juicy plum, blueberry, exotic spice, wildflowers, dark chocolate, liquorice, oak vanillin, turned earth and charcuterie. It has velvety plushness in the mouth, with refined tannins and a wonderful fruit presence and flow, long and true. This is a glorious drink immediately, and yet it has fabulous staying-power.
