Key Flavours
Serve
One of the drams that got many in the team here really loving Scotch. So easy to sip, lots of sweetness and then the smoke, malt and peat arrive. A really special Whisky.
Process
Dalwhinnie is made with water sourced from Lochan an Doire Uaine - meaning "Loch of the Green Thicket". This pure and soft spring water travels through local peat before reaching the loch which is located 600 metres above sea level.
People
In 1897, John Grant established the Dalwhinnie Distillery which was originally named Strathspey Distillery. A year later, Grant was declared bankrupt and sold the distillery to AP Blyth, who renamed the distillery Dalwhinnie.
Place
The Dalwhinnie Distillery is currently the highest distillery in the country. Dalwhinnie, meaning “Plain of Meetings” in Gaelic – is named for its location at a junction of old drove roads, between two mountain ranges in the Cairngorm National Park.
