Winemaker Quality Controlling Wine

Château Léoube, located along the pristine coast of Provence, is renowned as one of the most sustainable organic vineyards in Europe. The estate spans 560 hectares, nestled within the Cap Bénat, one of the largest protected sites in the Var region. Acquired by Lord and Lady Bamford in 1997, the chateau has flourished under their stewardship, with the Bamfords bringing their holistic, organic philosophy from their Daylesford Organic farm in the UK to Provence. The estate's winemaking is led by Romain Ott, a fourth-generation winemaker from the famous Ott family, known for producing world-class Provençal wines.

Château Léoube’s viticulture is deeply rooted in traditional, artisanal methods, following organic principles that respect the land and its natural rhythms. The estate's vineyards benefit from the unique coastal terroir, with its proximity to the Mediterranean imparting a distinctive freshness and minerality to their wines. The grapes, which include varieties such as Grenache, Cinsault, and Syrah, are carefully tended by hand, from pruning to harvesting. Léoube’s wines, including their signature rosé, reflect the balance and elegance of their environment, offering a true taste of Provence’s unique landscape.

At the heart of Château Léoube’s philosophy is a profound commitment to environmental sustainability. The estate operates entirely on organic principles, avoiding synthetic chemicals and fostering biodiversity by nurturing the natural flora and fauna. This sustainable approach extends beyond viticulture to the protection of the broader landscape, ensuring that the natural beauty of the Cap Bénat is preserved for future generations. Château Léoube also emphasises energy efficiency and sustainable packaging, aligning with the Bamfords’ vision of creating a vineyard that works in harmony with nature, supporting environmental resilience and sustainability.
