Tia Maria

Tia Maria's inspiration dates to the 17th century, when a young Spanish aristocrat fled the turmoil of colonial war in Jamaica. When Dr. Kenneth Leigh Evans began to produce the recipe she allegedly escaped with in the 1940's, it was named after her. While the story of Dr Evans is the party line, according to some sources, it was actually created in Jamaica in the 1930s.
