Thelema
Across 157 hectares on the slopes of Simonsberg Mountain, and across vineyards in Elgin, the Webb family of Thelema produce outstanding South African wines with a focus on quality and minimal intervention.
The Webb family has shaped South African wine for decades. Gyles Webb started Thelema in 1983 and quickly gained a reputation as one of Stellenbosch’s most respected estates, known for its classy Cabernet Sauvignon and vibrant Chardonnay. Today, Gyles has passed the winery down to his son Thomas, who has continued Thelema’s extremely high standards. Alongside their Stellenbosch estate, the family also purchased the Sutherland Estate in 2002 in the cooler Elgin Valley, producing wines that are generally lighter, with outstanding balance, freshness, and finesse.
