Luxardo

Girolamo Luxardo (a representative of the Kingdom of Sardinia), moved to Zara with his family in 1817, where his wife Maria became especially interested in perfecting Rosolio Marachino. Six generations have since been at the helm. Founded in Zara in 1821, Luxardo became one of the largest distilleries in the Austro – Hungarian Empire. At the end of WWI, Zara became incorporated into the Kingdom of Italy and after WWII they rebuilt the distillery in Torreglia.
