Benedictine

Initially developed by wine merchant Alexandre Le Grand in the 19th century, who embellished a story around an original recipe by the Benedictine monks of the Abbey of Fécamp in Normandy. Today it is a part of the Bacardi portfolio. Benedictine is made in France, with much of the long history more myth than truth. Its French provenance played aa key role in the spirit becoming popular in New Orleans and how it found its way into the iconic cocktail the View Carré.
