Annual Portfolio Tasting and Discovery Wine Winner!

Laura on 1 Nov 2013

There was a full house at the Great Western Wine annual Portfolio Tasting last week. 450 tickets sold out a week beforehand, and eager tasters packed into Bath’s Assembly Rooms to taste some of the best wines we have to offer.

There were many outstanding wines on display from bubbles through to sweet wines. But this year there was a twist. It was up to our wine tasting customers to vote for their star of the show from a list of "Discovery Wines". Each table had a Discovery Wine (see right), which was picked to show the diversity we have in our portfolio. Dry Tokaji, Aleatico, Verdejo and Pruno Nero is just a small flavour of the Discovery wines on tasting. We hope everyone tried something new that they possibly hadn't heard of before hand.

After Vicki counted up nearly 250 votes, overseen by an independent adjudicator, the results can be released. Drum roll please.

Coming in joint second as our customers' favourite Discovery Wine is:

Unanime, Bodegas Santa Ana 2007

£16.95 reduced to... £14.92 as part of our Christmas Wine Focus

So you do agree with Decanter Magazine who voted this as their Best Red Wine Blend of the Year 2012. Our customers have fantastic palates.

and

NV Ice Cuvée Sparkling, Peller

£25.00 with 20% off six £20.00 as part of our Christmas Wine Focus

Canadian Sparkling wine made in the Champagne method with a dosage of luxurious Ice Wine. Perfect as and aperitif or at the end of a meal. A decadent choice for Christmas.

And the WINNER is:

Finca Montico Rueda, Riscal

£16.75 reduced to... £14.74 as part of our Christmas Wine Focus

Elegance personified. Our Great Western Wine tasters know class. This ground breaking, single-vineyard Verdejo is a wonderful white that fully deserves top spot. When this grape becomes popular, remember you found it first here.
