3 Ways To Shake The Monday Blues

It’s Monday, the weather has worsened and next weekend seems oh so far away, but fear not, we’ve put together a 3 step plan to ease you out of last weekend and see you through to the next.

1.       Do something out of the ordinary

We can all get stuck in a rut from time to time, making our weeks very repetitive.  The work-eat-sleep-repeat routine can be a little exhausting, so mix things up in your day to day by doing something random.  Breaking that Monday to Friday monotony will make your week go past significantly quicker and you’ll start looking forward to an interesting mid-week event rather than wishing away the days until the weekend.  You could try anything from a hot yoga session after work, to an evening life drawing class, there are a huge amount of options to choose from that don’t have to break the bank or take too much of your time up, but believe me it makes a difference... and perfect excuse to see your friends too!

2.       Start planning ahead

It’s certainly never good to wish away your life, but we’re all culprits of counting down the week until our next day off.  Why not really make it something to look forward to? Plan ahead and invite some friends over, choose a meal you can all enjoy – maybe some street food style dishes for a fun, informal feel, and try some red wine from Chile with up to 20% off all South American bottles throughout October.  With medium sized groups this format works really well, without the stuffiness of a dinner party everyone can relax and chat more comfortably.  October is a great time for this kind of event too, before food and drink becomes a lot more festive you can enjoy some flavoursome dishes with a definite kick to warm you up during these colder autumn nights!

3.       Swap your playlist

It’s easy to slump into wind down mode on a Monday and go straight for the Bon Iver section of your iTunes, but try listening to some music maybe more suited to a Friday night.  You’ll be surprised at how much of a mood changer this can be, it gets you excited about the weekend and feeling considerably less negative about the Monday blues. You may even catch yourself having a bit of a dance while you’re at it!
