Complex fruit with drizzles of caramel, butterscotch and vanilla greet the nose. The taste is spicy at first, but quickly sweetened with rich layers of vanilla and dried fruit. It finishes with lingering hints of dry fruit and caramelised wood sugar.
Process
Slane Irish Whiskey is made using whiskey blended from 3 selected cask types - virgin oak, seasoned Tennessee whiskey and Oloroso sherry.
People
The Slane distillery is owned by American spirits company Brown-Forman, and made in collaboration with the Conyngham family of Slane.
Place
Slane Irish Whiskey wasn’t the first whiskey to come to Slane but over time, this ancient art was all but lost. In 2015, the opening of Slane distillery brought with it a revival of Boyne Valley whiskey, where old traditions meet modern innovation.
