Process
All Absolut Vodka is made from winter wheat, which is distilled on four story high column stills to a supremely high quality. This 96% pure vodka is then reduced using local Swedish water and a concentrated mandarin and orange essences are added.
People
Absolut was established in 1879 by Lars Olsson Smith, who wanted to challenge the city of Stockholm's liquor marketing monopoly. First sold under the name Absolut Rent Brännvin, in 1979 it was renamed Absolut Vodka. Today it is part of Pernod Ricard.
Place
Absolut practices a One Source production philosophy, meaning that all of their production takes place in and around the village of Åhus, Sweden. An impressive distillery as it makes over 100 million litres of vodka annually!
