Key Flavours
Serve
Yuzu citrus gives the gin a clear citrus hit, boosted by grapefruit and juicy mandarin. Shiso leaf adds a herbal tang around the juniper, while sansho pepper brings its fragrant spice to the finish. Serve with soda garnished with lemon.
Process
Three classic botanicals and five Japanese ones (cedar wood, shiso leaf, chrysanthemum, sansho pepper and yuzu) are individually distilled under vacuum, then blended. A touch of distilled Sake spirit is also added to bring a soft sweetness.
People
135° East is made by Master Distiller & Blender Kimio Yonezawa, who captures the essence of each Japanese botanical through a vacuum distillation process.
Place
An expansion of the Akashi Sake Brewery, 135° East Gin comes from the Kaikyo Distillery in Akashi. The Gin is named after the longitude line that passes through Akashi, City (which has been used to determine Japan standard time since 1888).
