Seresin Estate

A reknowned cinematographer, Michael Seresin's career in film has spanned over fifty years and includes credits on some of the most important films of the last half-century. In the early 1990s, Michael fulfilled a lifelong desire to create a winery which made wine in the most natural way possible, whilst not compromising on quality. It is this passion for the land of New Zealand and the pure expression of organic viticulture that forms the foundation of everything that Seresin Estate represents.
Inspired by Michael Seresin’s own connections and interests, Seresin Estate is a new world winery with an old world approach - in no hurry when it comes to winemaking. Wild yeasts live in the vineyard and ferment the grape juice into wine. Working this way does take a little more time, but you can taste the influence of the terrior in every glass of Rachel or Leah Pinot Noir - named for Michael Seresin's mother and daughter, respectively - or Chiaroscuro white blend. Seresin wines feature mouth-watering textures and flavours and an ethereal savoury note which makes them exceedingly food-friendly. They also show a unique sense of place, evoking the landcape of the Raupo Creek estate.
Certified BioGro organic and biodynamically farmed, Seresin's Raupo Creek Vineyard is an 80 hectare property flourishing with life and diversity. Among the vineyards are planted olive groves, fruit trees, vegetable gardens and native vegetation. Farm animals are permitted to roam between the vines, helping to keep vineyard pests at bay. The Organic and Biodynamic philosophies adhered to at Seresin view the property as one holistic organism, where the health of the estate depends upon the healthy balance of all its individual parts. This harmonious approach to viticulture plays a fundamental role in Seresin’s company culture and the winemaking process, where a minimal intervention approach allows layers of flavours to evolve. These resulting wines capture the essence of the vineyard’s energy and vibrancy, making every bottle of Seresin a genuine reflection of its provenance.
