This Premier Grand Cru Classé Saint Emilion is utterly beautiful: expressive, intense, perfumed and so silky-succulent. It has fantastic harmony and balance, and wonderful texture to the tannins. The Château La Gaffelière vineyard is superbly-situated: oriented towards the south, and covering 25 hectares, 22 of which are in a single parcel between Châteaux Ausone and Pavie. Hillsides are calcareous clay, while the lower slopes are more sandy.

Winemaking
Grapes manually harvested, vinified separately from different parcels. Cold maceration for days, yeast inoculation, then fermentation. Tanks with controlled temp at 28°C, frequent pump-overs and cap punching. Running off based on taste. Malolactic in new barrels and steel tanks. Blending in late winter. Matured in oak barrels, bottled after 10-12 months.
