Champagne Cattier
Founded in 1625, Champagne Cattier is a family-owned house in the Montagne de Reims, where vineyard heritage and respect for terroir guide harmonious winemaking.
Champagne Cattier traces its roots in the Montagne de Reims back to 1625, with the family producing Champagne under its own name since 1918. Now celebrating 400 years in the region, the house is led by Alexandre Cattier, a 13th-generation family member and the fourth to vinify Champagne at the estate. Trained in oenology at the University of Reims and with experience in Australia, Alexandre assumed leadership in 2011, continuing a lineage of cellar masters passing knowledge from one generation to the next.
The estate farms 33 hectares across Chigny-les-Roses, Ludes and Rilly-la-Montagne, focusing on Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier for structure and fruit, complemented by Chardonnay for finesse. Cattier’s style is defined by precision blending and a deliberate avoidance of oak at every stage, including the storage of reserve wines, to preserve freshness, vibrancy and purity. Reserve wines are central to the house style, typically accounting for 30–40% of blends, with some held for up to ten years and managed on a cru-by-cru perpetual reserve system.
Champagne Cattier are proud to be one of the pioneers of sustainable vine-growing in Champagne. Sustainability has been integral to the estate for more than two decades, with Cattier recognised as an early adopter of environmentally responsible viticulture in the region.
