Bodegas Verum
Bodegas Verum crafts expressive organic wines that capture terroir, tradition, and craftsmanship redefining quality winemaking in Castilla-La Mancha region.
Bodegas Verum is a family-owned winery located in the heart of La Mancha, Spain, with a deep commitment to the region’s winemaking heritage. Founded by the López Montero family, the winery is now managed by the second generation, who continue to innovate while preserving traditional winemaking values. Winemaker Elías López Montero, known for his passion for authentic and expressive wines, leads the production at Verum, crafting unique wines that reflect the diverse terroirs of their estates. The winery's focus on quality, combined with a respect for tradition and a forward-looking approach, has made Verum a notable name in Spanish wine.
Bodegas Verum manages four main estates, with over 40 plots dedicated to their ULTERIOR range, which is known for showcasing lesser-known, indigenous grape varieties. The winery has embraced organic viticulture since 2013, utilising environmentally friendly practices such as manual harvesting, low intervention winemaking, and the use of indigenous yeasts. Verum stands out for its dedication to reviving ancient varieties and experimenting with unique blends, including those made from Albillo Real, Tinto Velasco, and Graciano. By blending tradition with innovation, the winery creates wines that capture the essence of La Mancha’s terroir, delivering complex, elegant, and characterful wines.
Bodegas Verum is committed to sustainable and organic farming, having adopted organic viticulture practices across all its vineyards since 2013. The winery prioritises biodiversity and soil health, employing natural pest control methods and avoiding synthetic chemicals. Verum's approach to sustainability extends to its winemaking processes, where energy efficiency and minimal waste production are key considerations. The winery also supports local ecosystems by maintaining natural vegetation in and around its vineyards, contributing to the preservation of the region’s unique environment. Through these efforts, Bodegas Verum not only produces exceptional wines but also ensures the long-term sustainability of its vineyards.
