Susana Balbo is a family-run winery, specialising in the production of high-end wines, located in Agrelo, Mendoza, in the foothills of the Andes Mountains. It was founded in 1999 by Susana Balbo, the first female winemaker of Argentina.
The winery has a multidisciplinary work team, including José and Ana, Susana’s children. All these people share Susana’ values, vision and passion for the creation of quality wines.
ABOUT SUSANA BALBO
Susana Balbo is the most renowned female winemaker of Argentina. She studied enology and graduated with distinction in 1981, becoming the first female winemaker of the country. The wine industry in Mendoza, her hometown, was dominated by men at the time, and finding a job as a winemaker was not easy for her. Nevertheless, her courage and determination took her to Cafayate, a small, traditionalist town in Salta, in northwestern Argentina, to take over tthe operations of a local winery.
During her time in Salta, Susana played a key role to transform the concept and improve the quality of table wines, especially Torrontés, which is today Argentina's flagship white grape. As an expert producer of this variety, Susana is known worldwide as “the Queen of Torrontés”, and her wines are the best examples of its potential.
After nine years in Salta, Susana came back to Mendoza in 1990, and worked as a consultant for many important wineries of Argentina and abroad. In 1999, she decided to make her dream come true by founding her own winery and, ever since, she has been producing outstanding wines not only for the local market but the world.
Susana Balbo produces a diverse variety of wines and styles. The four ranges of its portfolio (Crios, Susana Balbo Signature, Nosotros and BenMarco) merge a great esteem for Argentina's strong winemaking tradition with the innovative, avant-garde character that distinguishes Susana Balbo.
Crios wines were created by Susana as a demonstration of love towards her children. Produced with carefully selected grapes, these wines enhance the power of hands, valuable tools that allow us to create or to care for our loved ones.

Each one of these people play an essential role in producing complex, limited edition wines such as Nosotros Single Vineyard Nómade, a multi-awarded wine by different critics from around the world.
Conceived as the viticulturist’s wines of Susana Balbo’s portfolio, BenMarco wines are produced under the watchful eye of the renowned grapegrower Edgardo Del Pópolo, who reflects the distinctive character of some of the finest terroirs of Argentina through the wines.
