For a newcomer to your wines, what defines the Rapaura Springs style?

Our wines have palate weight and texture, meaning they deliver full flavour and richness. Our vineyards are coastal, so we retain freshness, vibrant fruit balanced with rounded crisp finish. A real signature of the Rapaura Springs style and success.

We have the Dillons Point Sauvignon Blanc from you, what makes this such a special site?

This is a very sought after and limited sub-region of Marlborough. Located close to the Blenheim township it close proximity to the sea moderates daytime temperature. These are the newest soil in the region, extremely fertile, topsoil deposited created by flood events, their signature is creating passionfruit and guava flavour profile, but laces elegantly with saline which freshens up the palate. This unique quality is what makes Dillions Point truly amazing for Sauvignon Blanc.

Would you give the ideal food match to pair with it?

Freshly chucked Oysters, squeeze of lemon and a touch of black pepper…. Stunning!

Rapaura Springs Reserve Sauvignon Blanc

The Reserve Sauvignon and Pinot Noir are lovely, textural wines. How do you achieve this?

We are proudly family owned so decisions are made for all the right quality reasons. Our world class viticultural and winemaking team monitor the harvest very closely, selecting the optimum time to pick, when ripeness creates texture while retaining freshness. However, this ethos extends across the business and throughout the year. The attention to detail with canopy, soil and water management, through to our picking times for our grapes and the wines entire journey through the winery. Every decision carefully thought out as the details really make a difference in our world.

What’s new and exciting for the team at Rapaura Springs?

Harvest time! Next to when we release the wines our most exciting time of the year. As we write this, just on Easter, we are a long way through harvest. All indications point to a great, excellent ripeness and acidity however it will be small. We are expecting to be down 40% on a normal year. Thank goodness our 2023 wines are still tasting amazingly well, it will allow us to move into the 2024 wines a little later than normal. Mother Nature certainly rules the roost in our world!
