Aubert & Mathieu is a boutique wine producer founded in 2016 by childhood friends Anthony Aubert and Jean-Charles Mathieu, who combined their expertise in the wine trade and corporate banking to create a brand that reflects their shared vision.
Aubert & Mathieu wines are defined by a balance of freshness and complexity, embodying a spirit of inspiration, creativity, and a touch of whimsy that sets them apart in the world of modern winemaking. Anthony Aubert and Jean-Charles Mathieu launched their first vintage in March 2019, quickly gaining recognition on Paris’s trendy restaurant scene. Aubert & Mathieu is dedicated to crafting niche wines that showcase the best terroirs of Languedoc-Roussillon, emphasising the unique characteristics of each appellation.
Aubert & Mathieu focuses on producing small-batch wines from carefully selected vineyard sites across Languedoc-Roussillon, a region renowned for its diverse terroirs. The winemaking philosophy is centred on highlighting the distinctiveness of each appellation while maintaining a consistent style that emphasises balance, freshness, and complexity. The grapes are sourced from high-altitude vineyards, which benefit from cooler temperatures and slower ripening, allowing for the development of vibrant flavours and natural acidity.
