The nose is full of grassy, fresh soil notes and a fresh minerality. To taste, big spice come up front with caraway and toasted bread leading before sweetness emerges & leaves light stone fruit accompanying the spice on the finish.
Process
The whisky has been aged for over 3 years and 8 months in multiple cask types including first-fill, virgin US and French Oak.
People
Waterford Distillery is the brainchild of Mark Reynier, whose previous career encompasses 20 years in the wine trade, before taking on the then-abandoned Bruichladdich distillery in 2000. In 2015 Reynier announced the launch of Waterford Distillery.
Place
Waterford's Single Farm Origin series explores how terroir can impact a whisky's flavour profile. They deliberately focus on maintaining the origin of the barley is so that it's possible to taste the differences between each estate.
