In 2019, Tom started a master’s in Environmental Health and needed to find a flexible job to fit around his studies. For many years prior he had worked in bars and was fed up of pouring wine for customers while not knowing a thing about what was in their glass. He emailed The Great Wine Company about a part time job and to Edward invited him for an interview. He has been here ever since! In his first week he fell in love with everything about wine, from the geology and geography, to the magic of how a wine made from the same grape could taste so so different depending on where its grown. Recently, Tom has travelled to Catalonia to visit the producers Gramona and Scala Dei. As Tom says, "at Scala Dei we stood 800 metres up, looking across the mountain range with a glass of wine from the vineyard in hand and in that moment, I thought to myself, I really do love my job."
The Great Wine Co. is celebrating its 40th year in 2023. Throughout the year, we will be celebrating in the only way we know how - with great wine and with great company!
