Sweet with spices, stem ginger, black pepper rise on the nose. To taste burnt caramel, dried herbs, and black pepper drive through finishing on a minty pepper that accompanies the typical cinnamon, vanilla.
Process
Sazerac 6 yr. Rye is made with rye grain and distilled in Kentucky. The spirit is aged for a minimum of two years in new, charred oak barrels. It's not a single barrel rye, rather a small batch made from a select and small blend of barrels.
People
Sazerac Rye is made at Buffalo Trace Distillery (who have over 200 years of Bourbon making history). This specific expression made its name in New Orleans and alongside the iconic cocktail - the Sazerac.
Place
Sazerac Straight Rye is named after the Sazerac Coffee House in New Orleans, birthplace of the iconic Sazerac cocktail. The Coffee House is linked with other spirits too - It was acquired by Thomas H Handy of Peychaud’s Bitters.
