With heavy notes of sweet vanilla oak, followed by ripe fruit, cooked agave and a warming medium length finish - Rooster Rojo Reposado Tequila is one to be savoured neat.
Process
The distillery uses agave cooked in autoclaves for 10 hours. A special yeast is then added to the agave juices before fermentation, which lasts up to 72 hours before distillation. It is then aged for a minimum of two months in French oak barrels.
People
Rooster Rojo Tequila was created by master distiller Arturo Fuentes Cortes, who named the tequila after the rooster – a well-known symbol of Mexico. It is part of Amber Beverage Group.
Place
Rooster Rojo Tequila is produced at “Fabrica de Tequilas Finos” distillery, located in the city of Tequila, Jalisco state of Mexico. The distillery began operating in 2000 in a beautiful old colonial building dating back to 1923.
