Valentia is an aromatic expression with a natural sweetness. There's notes of vanilla, cardamom, ginger, honeysuckle and white flowers with a spicy rye finish.
Process
Valentia ages for four years in Laws Whiskey House American white oak barrels and finishes six to twelve weeks in a Rye barrel from Catoctin Creek, (also female owned and female distilled).
People
Founded by Karen Hoskin in 2008, Montanya Distillers caught the beginning of a movement toward premium, aged American rums. Today they are one of the stars of US craft distilling and known for their progressive nature and transparent approach.
Place
Montanya is a certified B Corp who have facilities totalling 5,800 square feet: the Distillery and Tasting Room is on Elk Avenue in downtown Crested Butte, Colorado, and the bottling facility and barrel house two miles outside of town.
