Process
Malt Master Brian Kinsman ensures that the unique Solera Vat, a large oak tun inspired by the sherry bodegas of Spain and Portugal, is never emptied. In fact its remained half full, and adding great depth of flavour to whiskies, since 1998.
People
Founder of Glenfiddich distillery, William Grant, built his own distillery with the help of his nine children and a single stone mason. It took a year to build, with the first drop of spirit released from the still on Christmas Day 1887.
Place
Located in Dufftown, Scotland, founder William Grant named the distillery Glenfiddich, which is Gaelic for Valley of the Deer. The distillery uses water from the same spring William did, the Robbie Dhu spring, and has done so since 1887.
