Key Flavours
"Nutty earthy spice, chocolate and sour cherry add a few drops to an Old fashioned or Martinez, works best with dark spirits and rich vermouths."
Serve
Expect the obvious here - earthy, nutty taste of walnuts. We like adding it to Cognac and Whisky drinks to tease out some of the complexities of the oak.
Process
Blended by owner Joe Fee himself (who normally operates on the marketing side). Based on glycerine with "natural black walnut flavour and other natural and artificial extracts and flavours".
People
family business since 1864, Fee Brothers is now owned and operated by Ellen and Joe Fee, the fourth generation. In June of 2012, Jack (almost 90 years old) transferred ownership of the business to daughter, Ellen and his son, Joe.
Place
The original Fee Brothers (Owen, John, James and Joseph) began running a saloon and delicatessen in Rochester, New York. In 1964 Fee Brothers expanded from their site on Field Street to a new, 12,000 sq. ft. building on Portland Avenue.
