The aroma is of fresh orange zest and cardamom bind to sticky juniper, with jasmine and honeysuckle behind. To taste, preserved lemon zest and sweet juniper take over before a floral, spicy and woody finish.
Process
Heavy brown sugar is toasted and caramelized, then lightly thinned, alcoholised and then aged for around four months in casks. Citadelle Réserve is then blended with this sugar mix and left to marry in casks for several more months.

Place
Citadelle Gin is one of the old school gins in this modern age, having launched way back in the 1990s. The French brand’s history reaches even farther back than that, though, with the recipe developed by a distillery in Dunkirk in 1771.
